See the pictures of factory original PROTOTYPE, code “480”, unusual, with two calibers barrels 9mm & caliber 30 Luger P38 stamped “PRIVAT”(EXPERIMENTAL, ONE EXISTS).
The P38 pistol is probably one of Walthers best-known products. The early P38 maintained the high prewar finish and full marking up until the early 1940s. At this point, the Walther Trade Mark was dropped and numerical secret code number 480 was substituted. A short time later "480" was dropped and replaced by letters “ac”.
First German military P38 with secret code “480” were produced less than 8.000. Most of them went to East Front fighting with Russians, and never came back.
Therefore P38 codes “480” are extremely rare, especially in good original condition.
This one was taken from Walther Factory and GI brought back.

It is in 98% original condition. It has two factory original barrels S/N to the gun cal. 9mm and cal. 30 luger and three matching S/N magazines.
There is no other military P38 code”480” like this exists.
It is a museum quality item, which always will go up in the price. It can be appreciated only by very serious, educated collector.
