PAGE LEWIS OLYMPIC Model C Single Shot .22 Rifle
Manufactured Circa 1925 in Chicopee Falls, Mass.
Here we present a Page Lewis Olympic Model C Rifle, made by the Page Lewis Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts circa 1925. The Page Lewis story is a long, complicated and fascinating insight into the turbulent nature of the gun industry. Mr. Page and Mr. Lewis had been associated with Stevens, and then went out on their own, made guns for Eugene Reising, and later sold their operation to Savage who also acquired Stevens. Eventually Page Lewis guns were sold by Stevens under their Springfield brand name (not to be confused with the government's Springfield Armory). Page Lewis started off making simple rolling block rifles and then moved on to basic bolt action designs. This Model C was an entry level gun for junior shooters. These sold for under $4.00 in the Sears & Roebuck catalog.
The overall condition is fair. The steel has a dark patina. Markings are clear. The rear sight is soldered on while the front sight is absent. The stock shows handling and has a slight wobble where it meets the frame. The bore is clean with worn rifling. The action is functional though stiff.
