Description:
Colt 1877 Lightning .38 Colt caliber revolver. Virtually mint condition Colt 1877 Lightning made in 1901. Excellent condition gun with 98-99% of the original blue and case-colored finish. The bluing on this Colt is the early high luster finish (which ceased around 1914) and the case colors are extremely sharp. Very fine gun! This is an eye-popping Lightning, that you generally don’t run across for sale these days. Gun is mechanically fine. Only issue relates to the bottom of the butt where there is some slight patina and screw is not perfect. All of the other screws on the gun are perfect and original fire-blued. A real gem! As a bonus I am throwing in a factory sealed full box of period-appropriate .38 caliber rounds specifically designated for these 1877 Colts (see pic of box). I paid over $300 for this collectible box/rounds from the inimitable Ray Giles. If you’re looking for highly collectible vintage ammo he is the guy to go to. As you might imagine, my intention for the ammo purchase was to showcase the Colt with this ammo and not to do something crazy and take it to the range – not a 120 year old revolver in this condition!
