Description:

Winchester Model 100 in .284 WIN caliber rifle. Rare Pre-64 semi-auto rifle in .284 WIN caliber, made in 1963. The Pre-64 Model 100s were only made for two years (i.e. 1963 and 1964), making these rare in their own right, but this particular rifle in .284 was only manufactured in 1963 making it even rarer. A very desirable Winchester Pre-64 rifle in very good to excellent condition. Two issues related to the frame and two issues related to the stock exist. These can be seen in four of the images within this listing (i.e., two marks on bottom of stock in front of the magazine, two marks on either side of the rear sling swivel, mark on right side of frame, and marks on trigger guard). Note- the small mark on the right side of the frame behind the ejection port is just that, the three additional “marks” also seen in the image are scope mounting screws which are perfect BTW. This rifle has never been scoped and it appears it has had very little if any actual field or range use. I speculate that the issues discussed above are the result of storage issues. I have not fired this rifle since I purchased it pre-owned a few years ago. This particular specimen is the type with the grey “underbelly” trigger component (see image) and I usually see listings of pre-64 100’s with all black undersides. These “grey” types are really hard to come by in this condition. Very rare given the aforementioned short-lived pre-1964 run. If not for the few issues discussed above the gun would be classified as absolutely Cherry-Mint condition. Most Model 100s you will see on this site and other sites or gun stores/shows are post-64 models with the impressed checkering stocks which bring well sub-$1k. The pre-64’s like the one for sale here have hand-cut checkering and metal butt plates. I pay for shipping to your FFL. Please let me know if you would like to see additional images.
