Description:
This World War 2 production Swiss K31 rifle is a beautiful all-original example of this legendary weapon.  First put into service in 1933 and built by Waffenfabrik Bern in Switzerland, the K31 (Karabiner Model of 1931) rifle was manufactured for the Swiss Army and in service until 1958, when military production was ended.  The K31 was built in lessor numbers for private sales until 1971.  This particular example is serial number 828,555 and was manufactured in 1944, during WW2.  It is a very attractive rifle and remains in all-original as-issued condition with all the factory numbered parts matching, including the magazine.  The original factory blue finish is in good condition overall, with only some minor wear and high-edge wear showing in exposed areas. The bore in this K31 is excellent.  It is mirror bright and clean with no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible.  The rifling is prominent and well-defined, with nice sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel.  As this is an early import, the receiver is NOT import marked, only the barrel on the left side behind the front sight.  As you can see from the pictures, you have to look hard to see it and it does not detract from this rifle's attractive look.  The original factory stock on this K31 is in great shape overall.  It is pre-1946 so it is high-quality Walnut instead of Beech, which was used from 1946 to the end of production when the Walnut supply ran out.  The stock is free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage, and shows the Swiss Military acceptance stamp on the right side of the butt, in addition to someone's initials carved into the wood.  All of the original stock hardware is in place and tight to the wood, including the original buttplate.  All of the controls on this K31 are in perfect working order, and the straight-pull bolt works smoothly and locks into battery perfectly.  This rifle will likely be as accurate today as it was the day it left the factory in 1944.  If you have been looking for a nice example of the famous K31 Swiss Rifle for your collection this rifle would be an excellent choice.
