First American Double Action Revolving Pistol
Here we present an antique Allen & Thurber Bar Hammer Pepperbox Pistol, made circa the 1850s in Worcester, Massachusetts. Ethan Allen was already a prolific inventor and successful businessman in the 1830s when he came up with this design. Made from 1830-1865, these pistols enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s first pistol. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history.
The overall condition is good. The steel surfaces are semi-bright with clear markings. The grips are in very good condition. The bores are smooth and clean. The action is strong. Here is a nice example of one of the earliest successful revolver!
