Description:
Jean Tanazacq is France's most renowned knifemaker. If you want knives that will captivate your imagination, that are out of the ordinary, that stands out for their uniqueness, and ones that will exceeds your wildest expectations, look no further. This maker has been making knives since 1954 and founded his company in 1980.  Prices are in EUROS without counting shipping and custom clearance on arrival (duty fees).
This is the first of a series of knives made by Jean Tanazacq that is being offered for sale.
Jean Tanazacq's vision and interpretation of a diver's knife. Originally designed for US Seal Members in mind, what is most remarkable in this model is the back saw which was initially developed for the Model ORQ but with a longer and larger blade. His renowned ORQ was first manufactured in 1982 to answer the request and needs of the Firefighter Marine Diving Team of the Havre, in the state of Normandy which was endowed with a frightening and efficient saw. On the Frogseal, the saw who is as effective and scary sharp as seen on the ORC is not intended to cut wood, but it seeks to cut by slipping, hemp and/or sisal ropes, nylon, rubber tubes, straps, tendons, car safety belts, skins, bungee etc... This saw has a track that runs in the horizontal direction and in  the vertical direction. This characteristic added to its intrinsic qualities makes it one of the best survival, adventure diving model Tanazacq designed. The maker knows several cases of divers caught in fishing nets or the trawl that wrapped around the propeller or ropes. In one instance, a diver had to cut quickly through heavy mesh that held him prisoner of this gigantic spider web, went back to the surface, happy and relieve of this dangerous chore.
NOTE: Originally developed for scuba diving, this model has been praised by hunters for its versatile qualities. In France and in Europe, many put on heavy boots for this activity and literally slip the knife into it, and use it that way. The ideal is that the scabbard remains attached to the boot, and to do this, Tanazacq put a pressure on the front of such and added a "bracket" (see picture) that can be secured to the boot either by seams,(like on the original scabbard for the Fairbain-Sykes Commando dagger) or by using tubular rivets (see pictures #1, # 2, # 3, # 5 and # 6). In the latter case, one just needs to drill one or two holes in the boot, adjacent to the holes in the leg and hit it with a hammer to crush the rivets. The waterproofing of the boot is preserved. Blade assembly comprises a way for tightening the handle thru a cleaver ( patented) clamping system unseen before (see picture # 9).
