Description:
1873 Colt SAA 1st gen., 45 caliber,  7 1/2 " barrel is nickel platted with pitted surface wear. Originally a nickel plated revolver.  The bore remains good with light general wear and strong rifling. The visible serial numbers on the trigger guard, back strap and frame are all numbers matching.  The loading gate and frame assembly numbers match. The cylinder locks up tightly and exhibits good action.  The hammer fully cocks and the cylinder rotates and indexes properly, very good action. The hammer has the four "COLT clicks. Screw heads are in good shape and look original. Colt forum senior member, JPlower states nickel plated in 70,xxx serial number range did not stamp serial numbers on the barrel and cylinder. The cylinder and barrel clearly show to have worn consistantly with the general wear of the gun and assumed to be original to the gun. The grips are new. Originally this era should have 2 piece walnut grips. A search on the Colt serial number lookup site says Mfg. date 1881 SAA. This gun is rode hard and put away wet as the condition speaks for itself. As Kopec states, "most collectors consider first and foremost condition, but many students of history consider the historical documentation over the condition."  If this gun could talk - a Colt letter would be nice for the historian. This is a great entry level gun for the Colt collector. Shipped USPS priority mail. Signature required. Cashiers check or USPS money order before shipment. Antique (pre 1898) ships to your door $30 USPS priority.  Priced to sell. Sold as is-no returns. Sold as a collector item and is not warranted safe for shooting. Please consult professional gunsmith prior to shooting any firearm. I am private party not a business. Please call after 5:00 P.M. or weekend.
