Rare Springfield Model 1880 Trapdoor Rifle with Experimental Triangular Bayonet. Rare gun with only 1001 of these made. This gun has a rare experimental triangular captive ramrod bayonet. The military eventually went with a very similar system for the model 1888 guns with a round bayonet. The metal on this gun has a dark brown patina. The wood still has a dark brown patina. The wood still has visible cartouche. All original and a gun seldom seen on the market.
