Description:
This is a great looking example of a World War 2 era M1 Garand made by Springfield Armory. This particular guns receiver is dated June of 1944 and the barrel is dated February of 1944 which is the original barrel for this receiver. While it has been rebuilt at some point it retains all original Springfield Armory factory parts. The finish on this gun is a very attractive dark gray-green color that is consistent on all of the metal parts. The bore is very good in this M1 Garand, it is bright and shiny with nice strong rifling, but does show some light frosting the last several inches of the bore near the muzzle. The barrel gauges a "2" at the muzzle and a "5" at the throat. The original Springfield stock on this M1 Garand is an attractive example as well, with a deep red-brown color. It is free from any cracks or repairs, and only shows just a few small dings and dents typical of an issued rifle with no major damage. The front handguard does have a small hairline crack that could be easily repaired. The Department of Defense inpection cartouche is no longer visible on the left side of the stock, but the circle "P" on the face of the wrist and Ordnance wheel on the bottom of the grip is nice and clear. All of the stock hardware is intact on this rifle, including the buttplate with a working trap door for the cleaning kit/tool kit which is included. All of the controls on this Garand are in perfect working order, and the action is nice and strong without any slop. Inludes a U.S. GI green canvassling. We have no doubt that this World War 2 era M1 Garand would be an excellent shooter in addition to being a great investment.
