Description:
(SALE PENDING) Smith and Wesson 357 Registered Magnum from 1936. Purchased and issued to FBI agent Myron Gurnea.  This revolver was sent back to the factory for a barrel change from 4 inch to 5 inch and a lanyard ring.  The original 4 inch barrel is included along with the old cylinder latch that was changed.  Original stocks numbered to gun. Pictures tell the story as I do not believe this revolver has been fired since being rebarreled at the factory.  Smith and Wesson letter from Roy Jinks and the 6 documents from the Smith and Wesson Historical Foundation verify that this revolver belonged to Myron Gurnea. Document list Harold Kirtz, D. B. Wesson, Frank Baughman along with the signed order form from Myron Gurnea.  Revolver was ordered on August 11, 1936 and issued to Mr. Gurnea. On October 11, 1937 in Bangor, Maine the notorious Brady gang was taken down.  Myron Gurnea was the Head Agent of the FBI in charge of the Braga task force (which stood for Brady Gang) and was was involved in the shootout.  It is overwelmingly believed by the Smith and Wesson community that this revolver was the one Myron Gurnea used in that shootout.  A great piece of an American classic Registered Magnum revlolver along with provenance of an important piece of American history makes this a once in a lifetime find for sure. The last picture shows Mr. Gurnea (the tallest gentleman in the dark suit) in the background and two dead members of the Brandy gang laying in the street.  Letter, documents and articles included.  Feel free to call to discuss any issues or concerns on this amazing piece.  Shipping and insurance discussed at time of sale.
