Description:
The Smith & Wesson 38/44 Heavy Duty was the precursor to the .357 Magnum. It was built on the Smith & Wesson N frame used on the .44 Special with a shrouded ejector rod barrel so it could handle steady diet of hotter, higher pressure .38 S&W Special loads. The top strap on this revolver has been bent and levered back into place. The timing is good. The action locks tight with only slight end shake of the cylinder. Overall, it would make a good shooter of a model not often seen. All the serial numbers match except the grips which are from an early revolver.
