Description:
U.S. Springfield Model 1842 Musket. Musket is in excellent shape. Metal looks to have been cleaned. Barrel is dated 1849. Proof marks are sharp. Lock plate is dated 1848. Stock is in great shape with sharp cartouche. Areas of raised grain is noted on the butt stock. Great example of the first regulation model musket to have the percussion igniting system. This was also the last smooth bore made in .69 caliber.
