However, the reason it DOES have such a fine bore is because somewhere in its 136 year life, it has had a replaced Model 1892 carbine barrel! It does have the correct carbine sights with the elevated ladder style rear barrel sight, post front sight, original dust cover, and saddle ring. Overall this little carbine has really decent metal with good markings and a light patina . Good 1892 carbine barrel address (which is partially covered by the forearm band). Excellent replaced wood with some fancy grain, no dents, wear, or any other deficits. It is getting very, VERY difficult to find almost ANY ‘73 Winchester carbine in any usable condition these days, and this one is a very decent specimen and in the highly sought after 44/40 caliber.
