It has a heavily worn bore yet with no serious pitting, but having very faint rifling; about a 2+ on a scale of 10. However, it does have a good lock-up and good timing to the action. The metal is very worn with a lightly stain-freckle pitted aged patina with very faint (and some nonexistent) markings. The frame patent dates are about gone and the CFSS barrel logo is very weak. The correct two-line barrel address is mostly intact The period after-market stag grips are in better than average condition but do have a repair that can be seen in the photo showing the grip bottom. Nothing fancy here, it’s just a VERY hard used neat little cowboys “short barreled forty-four forty” that has seen a LOT of holstering as well as thousands of rounds of slugs through the bore. Immortalized in the late Marty Robbins country-western song, “Mr. Shorty”, the song is well worth listening to (at least in in MY opinion, anyway) and you can click on this link, ( youtube/watch?v=L0bcALLEgwI?) to listen to it. About Good as described. $1995 SOLD Antique: Yes |
