Description: General Specs: Fox, Year 1927, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 2oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14", DAH 3", DAC 1 3/4" Serial Number: 363099 Upland bird hunters that love A.H. Fox double guns will recognize this Philly Fox Sterlingworth as a very special Fox. Most are aware that the Fox 16ga. guns are built on the 20ga. frame, and that is a very desirable feature, much like the coveted Parker 16ga. on the “O” frame that everybody prefers for the upland pursuits (the “O” frame was designed by Parker for their 20ga. guns) . Sterlingworth 16ga. guns generally weigh between 6 to 6 ¼ pounds, the lightest of the vintage American 16ga. double guns made. You will see plenty Fox Sterlingworth guns offered for sale as they made a lot of them. However, you will see scant few with ejectors, as this was an expensive option. This amazing Philly Fox, sn363099 built in 1927, is one of the hard-to-find Sterlingworth Ejector guns restored to 100% new condition by Vintage Firearms. We use Turnbull Restorations for the case colors and charcoal blue, and we do the balance of the work here in our shop. The restoration reveals a gorgeous Fox, looking like it just came from the factory, with bold, vivid case colors, 100% rust blue barrels, charcoal blue trigger guard and safety button, perfect screws, excellent bores, superbly restored wood with a hand-rubbed Truoil finish, perfect checkering, and crisp mechanics. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. The action and forend iron were stripped to their smallest part, cleaned in the Ultrasonic cleaner, scrubbed and inspected for function and integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled. This is a $275 service in our shop. The gun weighs 6lbs. 2oz. and is well balanced 1/4” ahead of the hinge pin with its 28” #3 weight barrels choked M/F. Use RST spreader loads and you will be shooting the equivalent pattern of IC/M for the early season and close-in stuff for versatility. Look at the photos, the restoration is stunning. In today’s world buyers are drawn to guns that have been properly restored to historically correct finishes and quality. The buyer of this gun will enjoy the beauty of a new Fox, shiny inside and out, without the added cost and 1 year or more wait for the work to be done. This is a quick handling, graceful little Fox that would be a pleasure to carry on those long days afield marching over hill and dale trailing after your favorite bird dogs. You won’t see another Sterlingworth Ejector gun so perfectly restored up for sale in a very long time, so don’t miss out on this one. You have the perfect investment grade gun that will be a joy to use afield while it appreciates in value. Thanks for looking!
