Someone has done a beautfiul professional-quality restoration on this 1904 vintage Winchester Model 1890 in .22 Short caliber. It looks nearly brand-new despite being 115 years old. Whomever did the polishing and refinish did a superb job of leaving all of the original Winchester factory stampings crisp and clean, as well as leaving all of the sharp edges on the receiver and the octagon barrel looking factory-new. There are close-up pictures provided of all of these areas showing the excellent job that was done of retaining the original look of this 2nd Model Winchester Model 1890. The bore in this rifle has also been re-lined to like-new condition, with a mirror-bright shine and nice strong sharp rifling. The original factory Walnut stock set has been restored to match the rest of the rifle, beautiful and clean. Both the restored forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or wear. All of the original stock hardware is intact and in beautiful condition, including the original blued steel crescent buttplate. All of the mechanics on this rifle are in perfect working order. The action works smoothly by hand and locks up perfectly with no slop. It if obvious that this rifle was not some worn-out rattletrap when it was restored, it was likely a gun that had been fired very little but not properly stored and developed finish issues. Restored or not, this is one of the best looking 1890's we have seen in some time and would be an excellent addition to any firearms or Winchester collection.
