Antique Winchester Model 1885 High Wall sporting rifle chambered in .22 WCF. This Winchester was manufactured in 1894 and is considered an antique. The Winchester 1885 was designed by John Browning and was produced between 1885-1920. This sporting rifle features a 26" #2 contour octagon barrel, standard trigger, and open sights. This rifle shows signs of heavy use typical of its age. The front sight blade, and rear sight elevator are missing. The barrel shows remnants of having been painted a long time ago and the bore shows signs of light pitting and corrosion. The buttstock shows wear but is solid. The forend is about the same but with two slivers of wood missing near the tip. The receiver is in good working order, but shows none of its original case colors, only an even patina. The .22 WCF was the predecessor of the .22 Hornet and was designed specifically for the 1885 Winchester. Mechanically, the rifle is in good condition, locks up tight and has a nice trigger pull. If you are looking for a representative piece for your collection or a base gun for a custom project, this would be a good choice for the money.
