Description:
This Marlin Model 1894 lever-action repeater was introduced in 1894 and featured a factory case-colored receiver, a blued 20" inch round or octagon barrel with iron sights, a 10-shot tube magazine, and a straight or pistol-grip smooth American Walnut stock set.  Marlin offered the Model 1894 chambered in .25-20 WCF, .32-20 WCF, .38-40 WCF, and .44-40 WCF, and special order features were available.  It quickly proved itself a well-made, reliable, accurate, and very attractive rifle and was a success for the Marlin firm, with production continuing 40 years until being discontinued in 1934.  This particular example is serial number 341,706 and was made in 1906.  It is chambered in the neat .32-20 WCF cartridge and has an octagon barrel and straight-grip Walnut stock.  This rifle is 100% original and has not been altered or "improved" in any way.  The original case colored finish on the receiver still shows a lot of nice bright colors, but also shows some minor pitting and finish wear.  These case colors are particularly nice as these are often completely gone on the rifles we encounter.  As you can see from the pictures, the original gloss blue finish on the barrel shows some nice spots of blue mixed with light pitting and finish wear.  The bore in the 20" inch octagon barrel is really outstanding in this Marlin.  It is obvious that this Model '94 was shot very little and the bore was well cared-for.  The bore is mirror-bright and completely free from any pitting or imperfections.  The rifling still shows nice sharp lands and grooves throughout with no visible erosion.  The original American Walnut stock set is also in excellent condition overall.  Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and the original varnish is still fully intact.  All of the stock hardware is in good shape, including the original steel buttplate which is perfectly fit to the buttstock and tight to the wood.  All of the controls on this Marlin are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth and precise when worked by hand with no slop. The mechanics of this rifle are really like-new and we have test fired it for function and accuracy, which was excellent!  If you have been looking for a cool vintage Marlin lever-action for your collection that you can also enjoy at the range or farm, this .32-20 Winchester Model 1894 would be an excellent choice.
