Description:
Considered to be one of the most desirable of 99s is the 99F (featherweight) chambered in the classic 300 Savage designed for this rifle and balistically close to .308 in performance. Of the great many variations of the ( firearms genius of Aurther Savage) the F is distinguished by checkering on the underside of the forend, factory damacented bold (engine turned) and lighter weight. This is an excellent example offered here for less than most others in similar condition. Has light normal handling wear only, no rust, no pitting no meaningful dings or other. Bore is excellent as well. Rear site replaced with a site blank and a very nice tang (mounted in factory holes) peep site has been installed. Previous repair to upper tang, professionally done (99's are well known to have have this issue). Handsom walnut stock set and excellent factory hand checkered showin little wear, still sharp, with nice case color retained on lever
Shortly after this one was made the safety was moved (in 1959 or 1960 to be tang mounted while this on retains theinal lever mounted safety.
