WINCHESTER U.S. ORDNANCE MODEL 1897 SLIDE ACTION 12 GAUGE RIOT GUN CIRCA 1920. WW2 rework of original U.S. Ordnance inspected Model 1897 serial numbered in the 668,xxx range and produced in 1920. Two very close serial numbers are listed in the Springfield Armory records as shipped in 1925 to Bolling Field, Washington, D.C. which was at Anacostia at that time and serviced the Marine Corps, Navy and Army air wings. Shortened 18” original Winchester barrel marked “FULL”. Frame stamped “U.S./ORDNANCE BOMB”. Arsenal re-parkerized finish and stock and slide forend refinished. Original Winchester hard rubber butt plate. Forward sling swivel added. Perfect working order and excellent bore.
