Military configured .44RF Ballard Carbine
22 Inch half round half octagon barrel
Barrel is blued while action appears to have been tinned
Bluing is dark with no rust while action has some staining
Barrel and action marked 4806 (ser No?) on top and 581 on bottom where hidden by wood
Barrel is marked "Ball and Williams Worcester Mass"
Front sight and main stock bolt are not original
Rifling is crisp and bright with some light pitting just ahead of the chamber
Wood is in very good condition with a small chip from forearm at left side in front of action.
