This is a handsome belt pistol, built ca. 1850 by the firm of Hanson & Co. of Doncaster (Yorkshire). The barrel retains about 85-90% of the original bright blue finish with some scattered areas of minor freckling, plum-brown fading, and gray at the muzzle. Streaks of gray are also present on the original captive ramrod as well. The action has retained about 45-50% of the original bright color case-hardening with a brown freckled patina on the balance. The original belt hook is still present, but the hammer is a later replacement with fairly close engraving applied to match the floral scrollwork on the frame. The finely checkered walnut grip is in fine shape with very little noticeable wear, and the buttplate with compartment is in excellent original condition. This is a very handsome pistol, that has had a little bit of restoration work done on it. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Hanson Model: Belt Pistol Caliber Info: .64 Cal Gauge Info: .64 Cal |
