Description:
This sword measures 25" overall, with an 18 7/8" straight, leaf-shaped, double-edged blade with triple stopped fullers. The 1841 dated blade has an overall mottled gray patina with thin freckling throughout, and light-moderate pinprick pitting along both sides. The Ames maker markings are present on the ricasso, and there are some polished areas along the edges. The cast hilt has a yellow-ochre patina with the quillons bent slightly forward. No scabbard is included. This is a fair-good example of a Mexican War Artillery Sword, and would make a nice piece for display.
