This is a handsome, early 20th century gun that has some nice features: doll's head extension with cross-bolt fastener, side clips, and nicely rendered game scene engraving on the frame, two large heraldic eagles on the barrel breeches. The barrels retain about 75-80% of their original blue finish with some gray fading at the breech ends and along the contact points. The raised matted rib has the maker's name inlaid in gold: “LANCELOT ARMS LIEGE". There are further gold inlays on top of the chambers: “ACIER/COCKERILL/EXTRA" (John Cockerill Co. steel foundry in Liege). The barrels are in good shape, on face, and have some very minor dents that could easily be raised. The frame retains some original, vivid color case-hardening surrounding the hammers, and the balance turned to a pewter gray patina with spots of dark mottling here and there. The walnut forend and straight-wrist buttstock are in good-very condition with numerous small handling marks and small blemishes, as well as general flattening of the points. The stock has a 14" length of pull to a lightly chipped horn buttplate, and has drops of 1 1/2" and 2 1/8" at the comb and heel respectively. The gun is equipped with European style sling swivels, and is in good plus condition overall.
