"U.S. Model 1840 Artillery Officers saber. Manufactured by Ames and dated 1862. Inspected by “L.D.". Two strand wire intact on grip. Leather has some small losses but overall is very good. Blade is excellent with original factory polish. Brass “D" guard has original old patina. Scabbard has some stains but no pits and no dents. This is an untouched Ames 1840 dated 1862 and hard to find nowadays as most have been “dinked" with by now! If you want an un messed with sword by the most desirable maker, this is it.
