U.S. Springfield Model 1881 Trapdoor “Long Range” Rifle. Rifle has a shotgun style butt with Hotchkiss buttplate. Metal pistol grip. Has the Bull rear sight. The barrel and breech block are for a later trapdoor rifle. Barrel has about 95% original blue. Beautiful case colors on the breech and lock plate. Stock is good, shows minor handling wear. Stock has the correct 1881 cartouche. Beautiful Trapdoor that looks to have been a long range rifle at one point!
