S.N. & W.T.C. U.S. Model 1861 Contract Musket. These muskets were made in Springfield, Massachusetts, from 1863-1864. Only several thousand were made. Metal has a gray patina. Musket has been cleaned at some point. Areas of pitting noted by the nipple area. Stock is good, shows light handling wear. Stock has been varnished. Good looking musket that is seldom seen!
