Description:
SOLD...Antique 1894 Winchester. Here is an honest ole 94 Winchester.. It is in the famous 30-30 caliber. Has the standard 26” octagon barrel. The S/N is 119744 and by Madis was made in early 1898 but of course the work sheet will say about 1900. The BATF standards on these S/N's is by Madis and this is what they follow as I have checked on this in the past and have been in many arguments over this confusion, but by law, it is very much considered antique by the BATF... This is an average used ole 94. The bore is dark with some minor roughness but still shows strong rifling all the way through. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly and still shoots good with cast bullets and better with jacketed ones as most of these 94's prefer. Has the original front and rear sights. The metal is a smooth gray to light brown patina with some blue in the protected areas around the rear sight and bottom barrel flats and traces on the concave areas on the receiver. No roughness or bad spots. Still has the very distinct factory machine marks on both sides of the receiver. Most screw heads are very clean and sharp with a couple that show some turning.. One on the left and one on the right side of the receiver are a little burred but still very serviceable. Still has the correct early “widows peak” or heart shaped hammer knurling. The wood is not too bad but the forearm show a crack on the bottom coming off of the end cap... Still very solid.. No other cracks or splits. The butt stock is better showing no cracks or splits. Both pieces fit very tight to the metal with no gaps or “shrinkage” as some folks call this... They do show honest dents and dings and have had some varnish added over the years as is very common for protection. Nothing looks sanded on or messed with other than the added varnish. Nothing fancy here but an honest ole 94 that every Winchester collector or shooter should have at least one !!!! This one will still put venison on the table just as well as it did over 100 years ago with no problem. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. I will not be liable for any harm done, the lack of knowledge or use of loading and shooting any antique firearm I sell.
