Description:
*Selling from my personal collection* Rare & Exceptional M1911 Colt Semi-Automatic Commercial Pistol Presented to WWI Captain Robert M. Forman, Co. D 23rd New York State National Guard, .45 ACP, mfg. 1917. Robert Forman was born in 1887 and enlisted in the 23rd New York Infantry January 28th, 1907. The 23rd was redesignated as the 106th Infantry, New York State National Guard in 1918 for service during WWI. This pistol would have been privately purchased new in 1917 as a Commercial Model and presented to Captain Forman just prior to the regiment's redesignation and transfer to Europe. It retains 90%+ bright original bluing with an acid etched panel inscription on the slide which reads: Presented to Capt. Robert M. Forman Co. D 23rd N.Y.G. Sharp original markings throughout with original wood grips showing little to no wear. The gun is fitted with a thick blade target front sight and adjustable BoMar rear sight. Two-tone magazine. The action is crisp and functions perfectly. Excellent bore with clean and sharp rifling front to back. This is a high condition original 1911 with great WWI history. Check or money orders only, must ship to licensed FFL or C&R holder, 3-day inspection policy with no dissasembly, firing, or altering. No sales to Washington DC or NYC residents. Buyer pays shipping costs.
