The handles are well attached. The inside is tan leather. The outside leather shows no breaks or tears and is ready to use.
The latch can be opened by sliding the lock plate to right. This is an all-leather sturdy British Gladstone satchel. It is in terrific condition and has the most beautiful deep brown patina.
The leather is sturdy not floppy. This bag reminds me of the bag that the banker carried in the John Wayne movie STAGECOACH,
