Sometime in 1961 or 1962 the Newark, NJ Police Dept. ordered new Model 10's with 4 inch barrels. This example is number 178, we are not sure if this is the revolvers property number or the officers badge number. These revolvers were traded back or sold when the police department was issued new handguns and they show some use. The blue is original with 85% still remaining. The bore is excellent and the action works perfectly. Many police departments ordered Model 10's and stamped them and collecting different police department stamped examples would make a very interesting collection.
