Description:
1981 Colt Single Action Army Rusty Nail Edition Single Action Revolver in .44-40 – This gun is un-fired, un-turned with original blue finish. The revolver has a gold etched riband on left side of barrel which reads "God created man, Col.Colt made them equal" and matching "Colt Single Action Army .44-40 Cal." riband on the barrel’s right side. The frame is gold etched with the Rampant Colt logo, foliate scroll and a "1 of 1000" riband on the lower left corner. The cylinder shows attractive gold scroll bordering with picture of a young Colt whittling his first revolver from wood on one side and a portrait of an adult Col. Colt on the opposite side. A facsimile gold signature is present on the gripstrap. The checkered Rampant Colt Eagle grips are pristine. Revolver rests in blue-gray velvet with fitted hinged walnut presentation case (no key) with matching numbered plain 44-40 cylinder and blue Lucite block containing a rusty nail removed from Colt Armorers' residences during the 1981 restoration. The exterior of case shows light handling & water marks and edge wear with an inlaid Custom Shop medallion and brass plaque etched with Colts' profile and armory scene in the background. GUN & INTERIOR OF THE PRESENTATION BOX ARE NEARLY PRISTINE (with some pressure marks on velvet) A virtually as new condition limited edition third generation Colt revolver.
