German Mauser Weimar Republic.
German Mauser GEW 98 double dated 1916/1920, original Wrimar Republic issue. Cal 8mm, Sn. 4849. Rebuilt after WW1 under the Treaty of Versailles . The bore is excellent, rear sight was replaced, most numbers do not match in the rebuild, it is rare to find one of these rifles still in the original condition, with no Nazi marks. The Weimar Republic was Germany’s government from 1919 to 1933. It was named after the town of Weimar where the new German government was formed by a national assembly after Kaiser Wilhelm ll abdicated.
