Description:
Antique 1894 Winchester SRC. Here is a good example of the ole 94 saddle ring carbine. Tested by decades of time and hard use this ole gun is still shooting good. Has the standard 20”round barrel. Chambered in the forever living 30-30 caliber. S/N 136616 and made in 1898 according to the book of Madis which I follow for good reason.. The bore is very good with very strong and deep rifling. Just not shiny but frosted with no pitting or breaks in the rifling. NO rings or bulges.. Still shoots great.. Feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. The metal is a nice and smooth medium brown patina. Never cleaned on or messed with. No pitting. Very good traces of blue on the barrel where protected by the mag tube. The mag tube itself retains 30% or more blue. The receiver has some nice bright blue on the left side where it has been protected by the saddle ring as is common on these SRC's. Some blue on the bottom of the lever block and lower tang where protected also. Front sight is original. Rear sight is a newer replacement Marbles. It is the shorter sight but covers up some of the caliber markings on the barrel as you can see in the photos. The caliber markings are excellent so if you have an original carbine rear sight it could be easily installed and be perfect. Barrel address is good as well and not worn off like a lot of these carbines you will see. Most all of these carbines in all models were very hard used guns and many will show weak markings or no markings at all in some cases. The wood is well used and a little on the rough side but perfectly serviceable. The forearm has the typical grain splits on the front side of the rear barrel band as you can see. No other cracks and just shows honest dents and dings from a used carbine. The butt stock is about the same but no splits or cracks. Shows a lot of wear at the receiver and darkening from wear and handling. It actually fits very well and not under sized and does not look like it has ever been sanded on or messed with. The wood at the top of the butt plate has some chips out as you can see in the photo. The wood over all shows honest hard use but not abused. Nothing fancy here but good ole 94 SRC that shows some hard use but still kick in' and will still put meat on the table after all these years. Winchester made these old guns to last for generations and this one is no exception. Would make a perfect pair with the 94 rifle I have listed in the same caliber and made in the same year. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. I want happy customers. Buyer shoots at own risk as with all of these antique guns. Thank you for looking and check back often as I have a lot of very nice antique guns to get listed..
