Factory letter confirms all physical aspects of this gun as having been shipped on November 8, 1898 to the Simmons Hardware Co. Of St. Louis, MO. in a shipment of one gun. Serial No. 109182. It was shipped in .38 caliber with a 2 1/2" barrel, nickel finish with rubber grips. The gun remains in fantastic untouched condition. CONDITION: The barrel retains virtually all of the original nickel with the exception of around the immediate muzzle area. The frame retains approximately 80% original nickel with most of the wear ahead of the cylinder while the cylinder retains approximately 80% finish with some freckling. The screws and back of the hammer retain the majority of the high polish blue finish..Grips are excellent. Perfect working order in both single and double action. Rifling is pronounced but does show black powder abrasion. These shorty Colts are getting very difficult to locate and the interest in your them has risen abruptly in recent years. A classic Old West hide away gun from late 1800's
