Description:

WINCHESTER Model 1894 Chambered In .32 W.S. C&R

WW I Era Rifle In Scarce .32 Winchester Special!

Here we present a Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1914 in New Haven, Connecticut. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm again lies with John Moses Browning, who lent his extensive design talents to a large number of weapon types throughout his career. The Model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder and was developed as a hunting rifle. Over 7.5 million were produced from 1894 until 2006. While various cartridges were supported throughout the run of the gun, the .30-30 Winchester became its staple. In practical use, the Model 1894 became a favorite for general shooters and hunters alike. To this day, it remains a deer hunting favorite, and, in all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.

This rifle features a part-octagonal, part-round barrel in .32 Winchester Special. The barrel used to be completely octagonal. The .32 Winchester Special (or .32 WS) is a rimmed cartridge created in October 1901 for use in the Winchester Model 94 lever-action rifle. This cartridge is based on the .30-30 Winchester cartridge of 1895, but differs from the .30-30 in bullet diameter, as the brass was necked up for the .32. This was a good performer on medium sized game. This rifle also has a round inlet, likely for a compass.

The overall condition is very good. The blue finish is an old and quality refinish with 75% remaining. The markings are clear. The stock is in good shape and shows the handling marks of a used but well-kept hunting rifle. The bore is very nice with good rifling and bright surfaces. The action is excellent.

This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.

Barrel is 21 7/8 part octagon.
