Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is one of the all-time classics made by Smith & Wesson. This is a 1953 manufacture Model 36 Chief's Special snub-nose revolver in .38 Special. This pistol has the early-production and desirable flat cylinder latch and a pinned barrel. The factory gloss-blue finish on this Model 36 is 100% original, and has a nice aged patina to it that is very attractive. The factory case-colored hammer and trigger even still show some nice bright color on the flats. The bore in the 1 & 7/8ths" inch barrel is excellent. There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible of any kind. The 5 cylinder bores are equally as clean. The grips on this Chief's Special are the right type and are factory originals, but they number to a gun made a few months prior to this one. At what point they got swapped onto this gun we don't know for sure, but they look as though they have been on this revolver for many decades and show a consistent level of wear. Both grip panels are 100% solid with no cracks, chips, or repairs, and they fit this Model 36 nicely with no wiggle. The action on this Model 36 is as good as it gets for a gun of this design. These 1950's Smith & Wessons have a hand-fit smooth and precise action that cannot be replicated, even with today's high-tech machinery. The action on this gun is 100% functional in single or double action, perfectly "in time" whether worked fast or slow, and locks up tight. If you have been looking for a classic Smith and Wesson Chief's Special for your collection that you can also carry without feeling too bad about it, this '53 Chief's Special would be the perfect choice. Not only is this vintage Model 36 as reliable as anything made today, but you can show it off to your friends proving that you have some serious class afterall!
