Description:
26 inch octagon barrel and full length mag tube. Only 629 guns made in the 40-70 WCF caliber. Orig sights include typical sporting front sight as well as Winchester sporting rear sight and Lyman side mount receiver sight. Pistol grip checkered 3X grade walnut stock with a rifle style buttplate. Original sling swivels. Gun shows some wear to the checkering but no splits or cracks. Original large unused silver presentation placque on the side of the butt stock. Barrel and mag are mostly a plum/brown with traces of blue in protected areas. Bright shiny bore with crisp action. Scarce little gun, especially in this caliber. Gun is also pictured on page 343 of the Madis book.
