Description:
J.P. Clabrough Boxlock Ejector in 12 Gauge. J.P. Clabrough, a Birmingham Gunmaker! The boxlock ejector gun features 30" barrels, a matted, tapered, solid rib with an ivory intermediate bead sight and a silver front bead sight, 2 3/4" chambers, choked improved cylinder (.011) and improved modified (.024), double triggers, non-resetting safety and extended tang/trigger-guard. The rib is marked, "J.P.Clabrough & Bros, Makers, Birmingham." The boxlock action with good cased colors has fine English scroll engraving and features game scene center pieces on each side of pheasants and partridge. The top tang and release lever, trigger guard and extended bottom tang are nicely engraved, and the chambers have boarder scroll engraving. The attractive figured walnut stock has a checkered, Prince of Wales, grip and checkered butt-end. The splinter forend is checkered and has an engraved Deeley release lever. The 3 bite Greener cross-bolt (1 bite) type action includes two barrel lumps (2 bites) and the water-tables on both sides are stamped, "BP" (British Proof), "Nitro Proof" and 1 1/8, along with other stamps. The barrels, action and forend hardware are all stamped with the serial number, 11316. The shotgun appears to have been restored in the recent past. The barrel blue has full coverage of deep, dark, low luster bluing, and there is hardly a mark or scratch in the barrels since restoration, and the bores are super bright and shiny. The action with good color and fine, distinct engraving shows some remnant of what looks to have been rust freckling since the restoration. The stocks and finish are in in very good overall condition with only but a couple of small, shallow dents into the wood. Dimension: 14 1/4" LOP, 1 3/8 DAC, 2" DAH & 1/8" Cast Off. Weighs: 7 1/2 Lbs. There are 17 photographs of this beautiful English double gun included within the gun ad, which all can be viewed and supersized at Cabela’s Gun Library .
