This is a very nice all-matching and original R.F.I. SMLE No.1 Mk.III* in .303 British. The SMLE is one of the best bolt-action military rifles of all-time and has been used by many different militaries all over the world. This particular rifle was made by the Royal Factory at Ishapore (R.F.I.) in 1970 for India's Armed Forces. It is complete and in perfect working order, with all of the factory numbered parts matching. The bore is very good, with slightly dark grooves but nice sharp lands in the rifling. The original R.F.I. factory black finish is intact, showing some wear in places but with an attractive and consistent overall appearance. The magazine (detachable) is a blued finish and in excellent condition, though it might be a replacement. The original stock set is numbered matching, complete, and in great shape. It shows an Indian arsenal repair on the lower handguard but is otherwise free from any cracks, chips, or major damage. The original brass buttplate with a trap door is in place and tight to the stock. All of the controls on this SMLE are in perfect working order and the bolt turns into battery perfectly. As mentioned earlier, this No.1 Mk.III* comes with an original bayonet also R.F.I. marked in good condition but missing the scabbard. If you have been looking for a nice original SMLE for your collection that you can enjoy as an investment and as a shooter, this 1970 R.F.I. No.1 Mk.III* would be an excellent choice.
