Description:
SOLD..Very early antique Colt SAA with factory letter... MFG 1875.. Here is a well used but very early Colt SAA. Probably the cheapest Colt you will find this early but for one reason. The cylinder retaining pin screw area on the frame has been ground out by some nimrod long, long ago. This could be repaired by a skilled welder of course but I am selling this for a friend and it needs a new home. S/N 19979 and all matching. I can not get the ejector housing screw out as I do not want to force it and snap off the stud on the barrel..... but I am quite sure the barrel is numbered as it is the correct italic barrel address and the patina matches perfectly. I just don't have time to mess with it.. Over all a brown gun and shows lots of honest wear... PAT dates on the frame are weak as you can see. The 45 CAL is worn off the rear trigger guard flat.... Barrel address not bad and all there.. Mechanics are excellent and it locks up tight as a new gun. NO cylinder wobbles or front to rear movement at all. Grips are well worn with some kill notches from killing something ??? Looks like an LK on the top of both grips. Maybe a brand or initials. Who knows ??? Very good strong bore and the chambers are clean and not pitted. No pitting on the gun. The ejector rod head is the oval type and should be the earlier bulls eye head. Does not detract from this gun at this price …... Some dings or peen marks on the frame in front of the barrel as you can see. Reason unknown... barrel is tight to the frame and again, at this price, who cares... It is an ole Colt that has “ been there and done that “... These early ones are getting hard to find that have not had parts change and many are far worse than this one. Still has the early long knurled hammer... Amazing this ole hog leg is still intact after all these years. Screws heads are burred up a bit and a couple probably replaced. The one that holds the cylinder pin in is real bad but it is removable but hard to get started back in straight. But then again, who cares.. Front sight still intact and not filled off... This would make a nice shooter, WITH BLACK POWDER ONLY, or hang it on the wall, or fix the darn thing and have a $3500 gun... 1981 factory letter from M.S. Huber is included. Shipped 1875 to the well know dealer H&D Folsom, NY NY.. Blue finish, 45 caliber, barrel and grips not listed as is standard on these early guns.. Shipped July 24 1875.. I would not mind buying this for myself from my friend as I do not have one in my collection that is this early MFG. I have several made in 1876 but no italic barrel address ones.. No time to fool with it and like I really need another Colt SAA …. $35 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 questions or photos..
