They were chambered for cartridges that were popular in the late 19th-mid 20th centuries. These were the .32-20 Winchester (1882), .25-20 Winchester (1895), and the 218 Bee (1938). The latter two cartridges are simply necked down versions of the .32-20. The .25-20 WCF was particularly popular in its day. Like the 218 Bee, the .25-20 was, and still is, an excellent varmint hunting round. Most of the major gun manufactures built rifles in this caliber back in the day. It is generally loaded with bullets in the range of 60 to 86 grains. The Marlin 1894CL features a 22-inch barrel, a 2/3-length mag tube, and wood furniture with the stock having the Old West-style straight grip. This example has been equipped with a Leupold 2-7x32mm scope and a hammer extension. The consignor stated that the rear cope cover was a little too wide, so they put a piece of tape around the scope. This allows the scope cover to fit better. The rifle has a front sight but the space for the rear sight has a factory slot-filler. Installing a rear sight would not be difficult. The rifle is in great condition though it has some minor wear. The stock and forearm have minor wear marks. Other than that, the rifle is in good shape. It would make an excellent varmint rifle.
