<h2> From a mid-west sale, a 1859 Enfield 3 banded Musket "African Trade Gun." 65 Cal. 38" smooth bore barrel secured by three metal bands (see photos). Brass trigger guard and steel ram rod. The stock has been altered to serve as a club after firing the single shot. The stock has several very neat old repairs and has been embellished including inlayed animal claws on both sides of the butt (see photos). Although dark the bore and the nipple are clear. At the sale they said these muskets were often bought from the army at the end of their service life and would often end up as trade guns in Africa. This Enfield is a truly great piece of English Colonial and African history. I can not guarantee a gun this old will shoot however it appears, with a little freshening up, this gun could be back in use.
