Description:
The Remington Model 541-S Custom Sporter .22 rifle has proven itself as one of the most accurate rimfire rifles ever made in the United States.  These rifles are highly sought-after by collectors and shooters alike, and very seldom are these rifles on the market today.  Manufactured from 1972 to 1984, the 541-S Custom Sporter features a gloss blue finish on all of the metal parts, factory scroll engraving on the triggerguard and the drilled and tapped receiver, a 24" inch barrel drilled and tapped for iron sights, a 5-shot detachable box magazine, an adjustable "match" trigger, and a deluxe checkered Walnut stock with a Rosewood forend tip, pistol grip cap, and buttplate.  This particular example made in 1976 is in near-mint condition.  The factory blue finish rates 98 to 99%, and it has a "mirror-bright" pristine bore.  The rifling in this Remington looks brand-new with sharp lands and grooves and has no visible imperfections.  The original stock is in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major wear/damage.  Outside of some tiny little handling/storage marks the stock is like-new.  The trigger on this rifle has to be felt to truly be appreciated.  At it's current settings the trigger breaks like a thin glass rod with just a little pressure and with no creep, grit, or excessive travel.  All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order.  The action on this Remington is slick, smooth, and precise.  It locks into battery perfectly and there is no slop in it whatsoever.  We have no doubt that this rifle will shoot just as well today as it did when it left the factory 43 years ago.  This Model 541-S Custom Sporter comes with a period Redfield "Wideview" fixed 4-power scope mounted on period Redfield bases and rings.  This scope is also in excellent condition overall and has nice bright and clear optics.  Both the windage and elevation adjustments are in perfect working order and both of the original turret caps are still in place.  This was one of the best American-made scopes during the period when this rifle came out, and remains an excellent scope today.  These scopes were built to last with great optics and should hold "zero" perfectly for years to come.  If you have been looking for a "collector grade" .22 rifle to add to your collection this Remington 541-S would be an excellent choice.  Not only will it outshoot rifles costing five times as much today, but it should be an excellent long-term investment with proper care.
