“THE INTERNATIONAL” Side by Side Coach Shotgun
Double Barrel Shotgun Imported from Belgium to St. Louis
Here we present a Belgian Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, made circa 1900 by Simonis, Janssen & Dumoulin of Liege, Belgium for import to Meacham Arms Company of Saint Louis, Missouri. Simonis, Janssen & Dumoulin made and imported many shotguns to American hardware stores, mail-order houses, and gun shops in the United States between 1893 and 1914. This would have been primarily a sporting firearm designed for hunting fowl.
The top of the barrels is marked “THE INTERNATIONAL - LAMINATED STEEL”.
This old shotgun looks like it lived a hard life. The iron parts have a dark patina. The markings are clear. The stock shows lots of use. The bores are dark. The actions are functional. This would be a neat piece to retire above the fireplace or on the wall at the hunting cabin.
This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
