HANDSOME Antique W. Richards SxS Shotgun
19th Century Under Lever Double Barrel
Here we present an antique W. Richards Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, made circa the late 19th Century in Belgium. While this might have made a good field gun for putting meat on the table, it would have also come in handy for defense of the homestead. This was a firearm made for export as Liege has been a major producer and exporter of arms for centuries. It has 2 ½ inch chambers with an extractor and a 13 inch LOP. The barrels are stamped “LAMINATED STEEL”.
The overall condition is good. The barrels retain their attractive Damascened twist pattern. The markings are clear. The stock features nice striping and is in good condition with the exception of a small crack under the lock plate. The bores are smooth and clean. The actions are functional. Here is a truly handsome and neat shotgun to retire above the mantle.
