Very nice Smith & Wesson No. 1 second issue 7-shot 22 Short revolver, serial # 35242, made 1863, Civil War era and popular side piece/extra revolver with many Union officers. This one is special order having factory ivory grips correctly numbered in pencil. Retains almost all of the factory silver plating on the frame with only a bit of the brass frame showing at the toe. Original 3 3/16" octagon barrel has correct 1-line address and is a mix of patina and gray with some original blue in the hidden areas of the rib and lower frame under extractor pin. Original non-fluted cylinder also patina with some wear to the patent date line but most of it is readable. Very tight hinge and action, spring is strong. Bore is good with typical light black powder fouling and consistent rifling throughout, no major pits or damage. Neat little special order No. 1 S&W revolver to add to your Civil War collection.
