I have left this sword in as found condition, this sword is at least 154 years old, and is in good to above good condition. Field officers swords are getting harder to find,then the STAFF AND FIELD officers sword in my opinion. This sword was made by one of the most talented sword smith of his time, W.H. HORSTMAN & sons who's name is on the blade acid etched. The black leather scarrard is strong and all the stiching is good, the two ring hanger has great patina , as you would expect of a sword of this period. The leather grip and double wire are all intact and in good to above good condition. Just over all a great sword from pommel to drag. dan 859-533-5445
