Early 20th Century Police C&R Revolver
Here we present a Hopkins & Allen Hammerless Revolver, made circa 1914 in Norwich, Connecticut. Hopkins & Allen was founded in 1868 as a firearms manufacturer by Charles W. Allen, Charles A. Converse, Horace Briggs, Samuel S. Hopkins and Charles W. Hopkins. Hopkins & Allen had its roots in the mid-to-late 19th Century, producing revolvers and other firearms under their own name, as well as producing all of the Merwin & Hulbert revolvers. These latter revolvers have been increasingly recognized for their unique design and high-quality manufacture. Hopkins & Allen also manufactured revolvers for Forehand & Wadsworth under contract as well as shotguns, rifles, and derringers for various sporting goods stores. This 5-shot, .38 S&W revolver features a similar design to Smith & Wesson revolvers of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The top breaks open, activating the automatic ejector.
The overall condition is very good. The blue finish is 40% intact. The markings are clear and legible. The hard rubber grips are in great shape. The bore is clean. The action on this revolver is excellent.
